HRA is a ministry of Hickory Ridge Community Church (HRCC) and is housed and located on the grounds of the church. There is a close working relationship between HRA and HRCC, however, the school has a separate administrative staff.
HOW INVOLVED IN HRA IS THE PASTOR OF HRCC?
Pastor Calvin Corbitt is the spiritual leader of both HRA and HRCC. He oversees the spiritual policies of the schoool and is available for council and prayer for the families and faculty of the school and church.
DOES HRA ONLY ACCEPT CHILDREN FROM CHRISTIAN HOMES?
Though a profession of faith is not a requirement for admission, HRA is a Christian school environment in which the gospel of Jesus Christ and biblical principles are taught and incorporated into academic curriculum. We believe that a child should have a personal relationship with Christ, and we will encourage this.
WHAT ARE THE CLASS SIZES AT HRA?
Each program under the HRA and ELC umbrella is growing! The number of students enrolled in each class depends upon the age of the child and the size of the classroom. Currently, several of our programs have a waiting list.
ARE ALL OF THE HRA TEACHERS CHRISTIAN?
Yes. It is key to the foundation of the school that our teachers have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. It is the job of the faculty to impart academics as well as enriching the lives of the students through helping them to build godly character and grow spiritually in their own walk with the Lord.
DOES HRA PARTICIPATE IN STANDARDIZED TESTING?
Only the kindergarten class is required to participate in standardized testing. The IOWA Achievement Test is conducted annually in the spring. The scores will be placed in the permanent record of the student and a copy will be mailed to the parents.
DO STUDENTS AT HRA WEAR UNIFORMS?
No. HRA students are not required to wear a uniform. However, a dress code is in place that must be followed. Dress code guidelines are contained in the Student Handbook.
DO YOU SERVE HOT LUNCH?
At this time we do not have the facilities to prepare and cook hot lunches. However, several microwavable items such as: pizza, chicken nuggets, corn dogs, hamburgers, and chicken sandwiches are available. These items can be ordered at the beginning of the day and will be ready for the student at their designated lunch time. Also available are; chips, ice cream, fruit juice, fruit cups, muffins, white, and chocolate milk, Every other Friday the kids have a special treat and have the opportunity to order Chic-fil-a. The cost is between $5-$8.
HOW CAN I CONTACT ADMINISTRATION, TEACHERS, OR STAFF DURING THE DAY?
Most parents will have contact with their child's teacher during the daily drop-off and pick-up. You may also schedule an appointment to meet with your child's teacher if you have questions or concerns that require privacy or a lengthy conversation. In addition, our administrative staff is available to assist with any questions or concerns you may have.
